Title: Avoiding Predatory Publishing: Choosing Quality Journals for Your Research
Date/time: 21st May 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM CEST
Blurb: In recent years, support for Open Access publishing has grown, with many funders and institutions requiring that researchers make the final version of their papers freely accessible to all. However, with the rise of Open Access, there has also been a rise of unethical actors -- predatory publishers -- who hope to profit from the new publishing models, and who prey on unsuspecting researchers looking to publish their articles as quickly as possible.
This session will look at the ethical concerns of predatory publishing, examples of the types of predatory activities and communications that they use to trick authors, and key tips and resources for checking the validity of journals. It will equip researchers with the knowledge and tools they need to ensure that they are choosing quality journals to submit their research to.
